For the Love of Red

A dear blogging friend has recently lost her father. She has expressed so eloquently about the process of grief and how after a time, those closest to you hope that you will "cheer up" and carry on. It is at this moment you are left more alone than is nearly bearable.

When I posted my first story here about my parents, I made the conscious decision to strip away all that may have been difficult leaving behind only what was good and funny, kind and caring. In the process I was able to view my parents through an adult's heart and understand their human frailties. I found myself falling in love.

I am so happy that my friend found much needed solace for her grief in a group setting with individuals going through the same emotions. They are celebrating their last day together with a party honoring their loved ones.

In this special place I call my own, please know that my characters tell the stories of my life. For every time I have crafted with red, I have sent an "I love you." to my father.

This snowman has got to be my all time favorite - something about the red makes him just perfect!! You did it again Elizabeth with your amazing talent.

I will miss your sweet creations and your dollhouse vignettes. I swear as soon as our Halloween party winds down and the girls are done with Halloween Monday night, I'm going right to Christmas.

Hugs!!

Your amazing stitches are pure pleasure to look at. I have enlarged them over and over just to try to imitate the same width. Gorgeous...love the old photo and memories...smiles..Renee

You have touched me in more ways than you know tonight, E. With the recent death of my own father just this past July, I "feel" your words. The fact that my father's favorite color was red was a bitter sweet coincidence. It brought back wonderful memories. Thank you.
Your creations are lovely as always - and tonight you made me smile in so many ways.

My Dad passed away 22 years ago. And it still hurts, but I keep him always in my heart and I love to tell stories about him too. Beautiful post!
Blessings, Joanne

What an adorable little snowman and clock man! AND what an adorable little girl in her snowsuit!

Yes, just this morning I had a tear well up for the dad who left me in infancy. I thank God for the loving, tender husband He gave me who takes the place of a dad in my life. ♥

Dear sweet Elizabeth,
Oh gosh! You took my breath away with this post, thank you so much for thinking of me and writing about me and my experience. Thank you so very much for your care and friendship and your kind words to me during this painful and difficult time.
I talked on the phone with a long time friend of my parents this morning, the first time in forty + years and she warmed me and delighted me with stories of my parents. A couple of days before, I spoke with the son of a friend of my dad's and he did the same, related charming stories of my father to me - of my dad belting out "Mack the Knife" on a road trip he and his dad and my dad took, a lifetime ago together.
What a gift they gave me. There is such comfort in hearing the stories of one's parents.
Thank you again for your kindness, it means so very much to me.

Just when I think the choir boy is my favorite then you make the snowman. I can't keep up! I'm still working on Halloween. They are all so darn cute.

Nice to know that there are doing that to our food. I guess anything you eat the skin, buy organic or pesticide free, anything you peel than it is not necessary.
