School Valentines

I adored Valentine's Day when I was in grade school. A day when found courage allowed for proclamations of heart felt feelings kept tucked away the rest of the year. A day to choose just the right Valentine for one special boy. The anticipation of perhaps receiving one in kind.

School Valentines are what I call the sentiments of love from my childhood. They have a very distinct look about them, and it thrills me no end when I come across them at a flea market.

I can clearly remember each of these Valentines from my own school days. The big red heart behind the central character identifies them right away! I keep them tucked away in a red scrapbook binder and smile each time I look at them.

A little Valentine Autograph dog made is just too cute. Girls would have these in class and pass them around to be signed by their classmates.

Click on pattern, Preview Image, Choose percentage size right for you, Print.nopin = "nopin"

Easy as can be to make from scraps of felt. I love the little red buttons which allow the dog to sit or stand.

Snow is falling outside my craft room window today. A perfect day to look through School Valentines and remember the ones given to me.

I love the autograph puppy. My sister had one when she was 14 and I was so envious. Thank you so much for the patterns. I think I have printed out all of them! I am going to start work on the house mat today.

Oh, E. Are you sure you weren't a Corn Palace girl, too? This sounds just like growing up in Mitchell. I just drool seeing all of those valentines but most of all, I am excited to see the adorable autograph dog! I think I had one just that color.

You have brought back a lot of memories for me! I didn't think I had stories and I do!

Love you,
Suz

Elizabeth..the little dog is precious. I remember my autograph dog.My aunt got me one when I was in the hospital in 5th grade. That's when I lost my finger..and people were coming to visit me in the hospital and after I got out.My little dog became my sign in book..lol
Later my mom threw him away..."why would I want to keep that thing?" Oh well I still have the memories...and now With your pattern can make me one..lol

Cute Valentine book.

What a darling idea for the dog. I too remember those autograph dogs, hadn't thought of them forever. I printed off your pattern as I do all of them for my folder I can refer to called Elizabeth. We have clear skies and temps are finally going down from the 40's here, they say clear for the next 7 days. I want snow it's much nicer than anything else in the winter.

E,
I agree with you....Valentines Day was always special in elementary school! Paper sack full of cards to give, cute personalized sack to bring them home in......the colors! Oh...the colors!!!! Yes, I remember Valentines day as a child. When I got home, my Dad would have bought my Mom beautiful red roses and a huge, pretty decorated box of chocolates and then he would pull one more box out from behind his back just for me, the other Valentine in his life! Special Special Memories!!!!

I loved Valentines Day when I was young as well. Making the boxes and getting the sweet Valentines. Somuch fun. I think it's still so much fun. I love watching the grands show me their valentines.

Valentine's was always fun. I wish so bad I had kept all mine. I purposely save my kids' valentines so one day they're not lamenting the same thing (well, Nicolai probably wouldn't care!)

The valentines just aren't the same now-a-days. They're all just based on the popular movie at the time and although the graphics are much more sophisticated, they're not warm, like the cards we had.

Thanks for the memories!

I had an autography dog. Think I was in high school. He disappeared long ago. Thanks for the pattern. I have printed it to add to my files.

I love all the vintage valentines. I have a small collection.

Elizabeth, I have saved all my kids Valentines from each year at school and I made a collage of them for their scrapbook. They are just fun reminders of the era and which characters were popular at the time.
