Happy Anniversary!

Today is the one month anniversary for TSG and Joe. He bought the pot roast, she is going over to cook for him. The Big White Puppy is celebrating her one month anniversary with Joe as well. Joe also has a Big Puppy, and they have become the best of friends. Mom and Dad are enjoying being Home Alone, together.

I made the ultimate mother mistake the other evening when Joe came by to end his evening seeing Kellye after a day of skiing. It was my first time meeting The One. Polite introductions made I sequestered myself in the family room leaving them the privacy of the living room. A drink of water needed, accidental eye contact made, Joe sitting very close to Kellye, embarrassed mother tries to cover up awkward pause.

"So what exactly is it you do for the power company, Joe?" "Chemical Engineering?" "Oh, I know what that is. It's like when someone wants to make pudding but on a really big scale, you would tell them chemically how to do this!" "No?" "Oh!" "Reusable energy?" "How interesting!"

Even without my glasses on I can see TSG glaring at me over Joe's shoulder. A polite retreat is quickly made.

Happily crafting away on my cute as can be Valentine shakers, my daughter leans into my crafting room as she readies herself for her First Anniversary, "Mom, Joe says he felt a little embarrassed when you came into the living room."

Indignant, defensive, embarrassed, mortified. "How can I possibly ever meet him again?" to which my daughter responded as she hugged me from behind and kissed me on the cheek. "Oh Mom, You're so dramatic, but I love you anyway!"

Every memory of my own husband coming to see me at my parents house when we were dating seemed to flood my heart. I don't think I allowed them out of their bedroom!

Oh, I remember those days. I guess no matter how old we are there are still those embarrasing moments. It seems my foot is in my mouth alot these days. It will be okay. Your Valentines are way tooooo cute. Enjoy this snow. Think of me (hah) driving home from work at 6 p.m. Why? Did I take this job.

I love all your little Valentine friends, Elizabeth! The heart shaped face with the round "O" for a mouth seems appropriate for this post! : ) When my son brought his girlfriend to our house the first time, I gave my husband "the look" so he wouldn't say anything to embarrass my son. He knew exactly what "the look" meant too!

And I can't help but notice how much the puppies on that little Valentine look like Nala! I'll be crafting away this weekend, working on my Valentines too. xxoo Nan

E--I am chuckling at this story!! It seems to be SO easy for us mom's to embarrass our daughters!!
How I remember the first time we met Julie's beau!! After some polite chatting I discover I went to High School with Sean's dad--and was in the marching band with his dad and his aunt's and uncles.
(Julie and Sean grew up in different counties and met in college)
A phone call to his dad saying "You'll never GUESS who Julie's mom is" , my dragging out old scrapbooks with pictures of his dad and myself in band and and my poor daughter mortified with embarrassment and her eyes nearly rolling out of her head!!
Good times!!

I too remember the first day my daughter brought her boyfriend home. After introductions she took her dad and I into the kitchen and asked if we would refrain from calling her by her pet name in her boyfriend's presence!

I love your Valentine display so cute and cheery. I would love to know how you make those darling pipecleaner poodles. A tutorial on it would be wonderful!

This post just gave me a big smile Elizabeth.Been there and done that times 4.Two out of four girls eventually got divorces, ones remarried and He even came to us for her hand. The last one is almost remarried and I kinda think well be getting a visit soon. That makes 6 of those stange odd visits from men to my home. It's always alittle embarrasing for me.

You are soooo sweet! I love this post - it brings back memories. I remember my mother and grandmother met my husband and just loved him - I think they were more sure of him than I was! LOL! These times are indeed the memory makers. I love your Valentine decorations - soooo cute. Hugs, Patti

It's so exciting to hear about TSG & Joe. You would think that we're all a bunch of Aunts or sudo Aunts i.e. her Mother's best friends about town. I can hear how happy this has made you too. Isn't it amazing how your creativity just soars when your so happy.

Hugs...Tracy :)

Do we ever stop embarrassing our kids? My sister-in-law says she does it so much, her kids are immune! I wonder. Anyway, your Valentines are amazing.
