When Will She Know?

There has been such a transformation in my Twirly Swirly Girl since she has come back to the nest to live. Gone is the Chef, gone is the Hippie, gone is the Police Officer. She has asked her father and I might we get her hair extensions as her one and only Christmas gift. It seems, she says, that boys only like girls with long hair.

Waiting for her college courses to begin, she is enjoying working full time at a shop in the mall. It turns out she has quite the knack for selling and will major in business at school. She is making friends with co-workers, after work burgers and blind date arrangements made.

There is a flurry of text messaging seen for days, a few dates, selective sharing of information, parents whispering from pillows in the dark, every detail discussed for a glimpse of happiness found. "It wasn't meant to be." not this time.

Puppy Patrol couch sleeping, covers under chin, Mom and Dad kisses without causing her to wake. "When will she know True Love's grace?"

This is my Christmas Prayer.

  1. Oh how sweet to have your Twirly Girl back home. Once they come back they are very different from when they left. My sister's daughter came back so grown up, we thought she was someone else!
beautiful card image too! Wish I knew your first name as I would address you by Dear----..Merry Christmas (will wonder if you got the hair extension!!!)
    Shirley and Cupid...

  2. Oh Elizabeth it's so sweet for you to share you & hubby's heart and prayer for your twirly girl. I pray she will know she is beautiful just the way she is & that her future husband will fall in love with every bit of her inside and out! It's this time of year that we all long for our families to grow both in love and numbers! Blessings, Angela :)

  3. Merry Christmas, Elizabeth!
I pray for my grown kid's future spouses! Son is 31 and daughter 29...it's tough for "kids" today and as parents we only want the BEST! I understand!

  4. I wish for good things for your Twirly Girl in the new year. I know you are enjoying her being back in the nest for awhile. Love my little replica aof white puppy. Did you make the sledding girl in Cindy's swap?
Ready for Christmas here but have to clean and that's no fun, hah. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  5. It's so hard to wish for their utter happiness, but knowing they have to find it without much help from us! I've been having similar thoughts for my oldest treasure...she's the most wonderful girl in the world...Ah, if only we could make everything happen just perfectly for them! But, that's not the way it's supposed to be, is it?

So glad she's there and safe with you, and that you can give her those quiet, Mom and Dad kisses on the cheek...I know them well...

Christmas blessings being wished for you and your lovely family, dear friend...

  6. Hi E. It's to sweet to hear the excitement in your writing about TSG. So much to watch for and see unfold before you.

I received the Christmas tags today. I just adore them all. Love my sweet little doggy!

    OOO's...Tracy :)

  7. Oh Elizabeth, I think all us moms truly understand this post! My baby girl has changed her mind three or four times about what she wants to be, and has the hardest time dating. Boys are just not like they were when we were kids! However, i find when you pray for your children, God answers :) Shes now dating the sweetest, kindest boy and shes finally decided what to be. ITs so good to see her happy again! Now its my sons turn! LOL!

  8. Isn't it great to have a little more time with your daughter before she is out forever! Our youngest is moving to a dorm at Purdue this coming semester. He won't be gone forever, but it will sure give me a taste of "empty nest". Talk about mixed emotions!

  9. As the mother of two grown daughters...I get it. Somedays my only prayer is that I will see how God uses ALL things for good to those who love him and are called according to his purpose. What a sweet blessing to see a peace in your sweet little girl, enjoy her to the fullest. Merry Christmas!

  10. Good Wishes sent to your Twirly Swirly Girl! Will we get to see the extensions if she gets them?
I have wishes for my own children..they have to make their own choices and I keep my yap shut.
Hubby and I discuss in private.
    Merry Christmas,

  11. Hi E,
I think of you and Twirly Girl almost every day(since we share some of the same mother issues). Sending prayers your way for the new year. Warmest Christmas Wishes to you and yours, E in TN

  12. My best congratulations on your wonderful site!

Your kind words mean so very much to me. Thank you for your visit! Elizabeth
