The Christmas Budget

I love that my life is as predictable as the coming of the morning sun. Expected patterns of daily life give me such a feeling of well being. My husband calling to me to bring him the Christmas List, the first step in a well known dance.

"Now we're on a budget this year, you know." begins my husband."You can't get everything these kids want on this list. One item PER child and spouse, and THAT'S IT!" And off to the store we go....

May I tell you that I have not once, not ever never, done the Christmas shopping for our family. I am the designated cart pusher for the man who buys everything on the list and then some. "Oh, lets get gift cards for the neighbor children to go with the gifts I have already bought them." "The Shop Vac? Well, I noticed Joe doesn't have one. How about those comforter sets for each of the girls?"

Oh how I desperately love this husband of mine who has given me the family of my pillow dreams so long ago. He wants nothing for himself but the love of his family and smiles aplenty on Christmas morning, budget busters, every one.

Ha! It's usually the opposite in my house, Elizabeth. I get the gifts and then my husband will come in and say, "I got this for --". I say "I already got -- something!" and like yours he says, "Well, -- needs one of these". I should just wait to buy the gifts until I know he's done! : )

Your afghan is gorgeous. I love the color combination. How nice that your husband enjoys Christmas shopping. This year, my husband has been busy working on a few "secret" projects in our garage when Josie is in bed at night. He's helping Santa out. I love the magic of Christmas for a six year old!!

Christmas hugs!

My sweet hubby's thing is to wrap the presents but he doesn't just wrap them, he wraps them in boxes way too big for the item...he's been known to put tools inside to fool you with the weight....a box in a box in a box has been done...he's quite mischievous ...your afghan, Elizabeth, is stunning!

Boy are you lucky!!! My hubby loves Christmas but if I left it up to him to buy gifts, no one would get anything!! He HATES to shop! I love the colors in your afghan. Making a afghan is on my list for 2013. I have only made baby ones and never a full size. I will be checking out that blog for crocheting ideas!

Blessings

My husband hates to shop, I even buy my own gifts sometimes. It always amazes me to learn that some husband actually do it. Though I must say, he has made some great gifts in the past.
Your afgan is so pretty. I like visiting Attic 24 also.

Love the afghan, Elizabeth! Gifts are not my husband's strong point but he quickly grabs any crying baby to comfort them! ♥

Your website inspires me and takes me back to the simpler days of my youth. I too could hardly wait for the first snow and all that it brought. I now know how to put all of those bits of cards and tags and Christmas' gone by in a wonderful garland that will be cherished by each generation. Thanks for your generosity in sharing your wit and your talent. I look forward to each post. Thank you so much.
