My sweetest of friends Vivian, Viv out on a Whim, left me a message on a recent post saying that she was gathering things together in anticipation of beginning her holiday craft projects. I adore Vivian; and if she says it's time to start gathering, it truly is!
I could not believe my good fortune yesterday at the antique mall in finding the third curvy wooden container I have been looking for. White house paint on hand for the outside, red craft paint on hand for the inside, Polka Dots all around. The raised center panel was perfect to Modge Podge vintage Santa images cut from a sheet of scrapbook paper made by Reminisce and found at Hobby Lobby. A final coat of craft varnish, and my tray is ready to hold things to inspire my holiday crafting.
I have a collection of doorway images that I wish to make wintry paper scenes on top of saved cardboard ribbon spools. Snow and trees, pipe cleaner bunnies and deer hoping to be let inside where it is warm.
I am simply passionate about vintage photo greeting cards. The scenes are just so charming. Don't laugh at me; but while sitting the Big White Puppy, she pulled from Joe's yard a small sized vintage trellis in the shape of a fan. I have placed it the garage in the hopes he will let his new Mother-in-Law take it home with her. I can already picture it painted white, my collection of cards strung from red rick rack. (Fingers crossed, please!)
I am excited to see where my felt crafting will take me this year. I am still enamored with the colors of my most favorite keeper of time, Mr. New Year himself. My window needs a garland for sure, a good place to begin.

Vivian gave me such a giggle when she wrote she had a few Thanksgiving crafts stirring about in her mind to attend to before her Christmas crafting begins. I wrote her back that I too had a few in mind but was afraid pilgrims and turkeys were just too too kitschy even for die-hard crafters like ourselves; but if it's a go with her, it's a go with me! (I hope to frame the inside of this sweet Christmas card for my Make-over Room.)
I know, I know! I should be called the Mary Poppins of blogdom. "Spit Spot, everything in it's Spot". A gentleman came to our house this past week to appraise it's value and made the comment to my husband that our home was "unusually" neat. Hmmmmm.......
Look! My paper clay Santas now have their button snow. More Polka Dots to share with Holly at Cutie Pie Cottage. Snowmen made using the same technique are in my future. RED HATS! They must have red hats!
Don't worry, the characters of my craft room are still very busy with their Halloween festivities just over my shoulder.
But at my beloved craft desk, I am awaiting new characters to reveal themselves to me!
