The sun is streaming through my craft room window here in the Heart of Ohio as I happily spend time creating Christmas tags with wonderful vintage images.
If you have yet to give a go at making tags, I am here to tell you they are the most fun ever.
There is just something magical about watching a scene come to life before your eyes with each cut of the scissor and dab of glue..
There are so many things to make with vintage greeting cards such as these scenery spools. Oh my gosh do I love to make these! They absolutely recall to mind hand crafts made during World War II when every inch of string and wrapping paper was kept to use for making ornaments for the tree.
A secret I will share when purchasing vintage greeting cards is to look for ones with doors or outdoor scenes on the front. The true treasure always waits inside where smaller versions are perfectly perfect for making shadowboxes or spool scenes such as these.
Sigh, I love paper art, and I love the coming of the holidays.
Your tags are cute. I worked on mine all day yesterday and finished them. Thenb I made 8 cards and 8 tags for a friends church to raffle.....now......I am trying to clean the mess.
ReplyDeleteLove your tags, and yes I started creating yesterday, will post soon, Marilyn

ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth! Sorry long time no postie over here - it's been a very rough year with my father's passing sniffle sniffle and hard to find the energy for typing comments. But I sure have peeked in from time to time and so very much enjoyed the respite from real life. There is always sunshine and smiles to be found here and creative inspiration. Thank you for your lovely blog and helping to keep me afloat these days. I'm so happy to see Santa's Workshop is in full swing. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!

ReplyDeleteYes, I've started mine, E. I also have my Nov tags done! Your tags are adorable and I'm so thrilled to be in this swap. xoxo Nancy
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I missed the post about swapping. Are you just exchanging with anyone that wants to send one to you? I'm interested!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love! I just feel happy looking at your creations. I do have a question though. Do you copy them in the copier before you cut them so you can save the original design? I'm thinking I would not be able to cut into one without copying it first. I do have a hard time of letting go of things I love! As usual, a wonderful job Miss E!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Julie
Oh, what joyous views of your craft room, dear Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteI'm just LOVING your new scenery spools! You've inspired me--I may just have to try my hand at that...won't be nearly as magical as yours, however...!
