All was going well with the Big White Puppy and her Partner in Crime. The maze of baby gates that had become my home to protect my new carpet while a little confusing as to whose freedom was being restricted, was working out rather splendidly. Our sliding glass door left open, curtains hanging over the opening, their own dogie door to the great beyond otherwise known as "My Husband's Yard". And then came Day eight...
A chilly September day, the sky as blue as can be, leaves just beginning to turn on all the ...... "Hon, there are trees missing from our yard!" Where there once were five, there are now only three. How is it possible for dog to eat a tree? There are no signs of branches or roots or a single colored leaf. Gone, I tell you, gone. But this was only the beginning ....
I should have known better than to leave the puppies unattended in the yard over long. A call to come brought the white puppy encased in mud from head to toe, her cohort trailing close behind ever so clean. It seem Elan the German Shepard, aka "The Nose", had scouted out a scent underneath our shed. There was a hole the size of Nahala the Samoyed, aka "The Digger"! I tell you I nearly had a nervous breakdown! Just try bathing a white dog whose hair will not get wet!
When TSG called to tell her father she and Joe were on their way to pick up the pups, he responded they would be waiting curbside with all their belongings. It has taken me an entire day to Spic and Span my home. I'm a little wistful about my ten puppy sitting days... Well at least the first Eight!
Oh E !!!!! Just when you think they are learning to behave.....I can just imagine how unhappy your hubby was....and how long it took to clean up after them! Abbey ate or killed every bush in my sons back yard, right afte rhe got it landscaped.....the Shock collar was bought, $300.00 worth of new plants and a BIG lesson learned for Bryan and Abbey! :) Next time, suggest a kennel or a dog sitter that stays at their home.....it worth it for relationships! LOL LOL :):) Sandy
ReplyDeleteJust how big were these trees that were gone????
ReplyDeleteWe went through three set's of shock collars (at $100 each, so that's $600) trying to train our dogs. They chewed the collars off of each other....LOL!
Hugs,
Meri
Oh, E! Just a little longer...Our Chloe will be 2 years old in December, and she only just stopped eating everthing in sight. I know how frustrating all that is, especially when it is not even your own dog. Yikes! Well, anyway, I'm sure TSG appreciated the babysitting. :)

I cannot believe three trees are missing!! They says kids will be kids but in this case it is dogs will be dogs.
ReplyDeleteOh E that's crazy and I thought watching the grand-peeps was a challenge... I think not you have me beat! Trees OMG who would have ever thought the mighty pups would up-root trees? Hugs and Peace, Diane
ReplyDeleteE. that breed of dog can be really hard to keep at least through those first few years when they are so full of it. They like to dig that's a problem in a nice yard. Plus they require so much grooming. I wonder when a person selects one if they entirely understand just what all it's going to take to maintain one? Or if they just see that darling puppy and fall hopelessly in love! My Weims now these are dogs you can't leave alone, not good for working people. With us they are really so much fun to have as best friends. Well my friend it sounds like a couple new trees are in order.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you gave that big white puppy a bath. I think you should have taken him to the car wash. I bet you were glad when they got picked up or do you mean you have two days to go. You were a dear to watch them. Can't believe the trees are just gone, wow.
ReplyDeleteI can't even wrap my head around them eating entire trees! I have a yorkie and I am shocked when she is able to pull stuff out of the tall garbage can. She gets angry when I go out and always manages to find something to destroy and leave on the floor on my side of the bed so there is no mistaking the message. It's her version of the horse head in the bed!

Oh My, the trees are gone!! I can picture the big white puppy all red and brown from the mud. That reminds me of Pebbles and Baby. We took them to GA with us to watch Eric graduate from basic training. We dropped them off at the room and then took Eric and two of his friends to dinner and to the mall. Well, Dana calls me on the cell phone, they go back to the hotel in their car and we take Eric and his buddys back to the base. Seems Pebble had ate the carpet in the bedroom of our suite. Dana said Baby was in the doggie bed watching Pebbles when Dana opened the door. I can hear Baby telling Pebbles this now Pebbles stop that. Mom and Dad left us our bed, some toys, and bones to play with. They left the TV on too, please don't do that. You are going to get us in soo much trouble. Pebbles put the carpet down. Oh no, come here, yes you have carpet fibers in between your teeth, I am sure it hurts, Mom and Dad will be here soon. Oh, there is Sissy, Dana, Pebbles what have you done. Oh no, Petey, Granny, come look at Pebbles. How are we going to get that out of her teeth. I better call Mom. We got the carpet out of Pebbles' teeth and darling hubby went to the hardware store and got carpet to patch that in the room and everything was good.
ReplyDeletePoor white puppy.
Hugs,
Lynn
oh for the love of puppies! I can hear (totally unrelated to real puppies.. ) Donny osmond singing.. "this is not a puppy love!" lol! Yeah.. I think I may have been reduced to tears. but then I have been rather weak in the emotion dept lately! I just know how glad your daughter and her husband are that you cared for their baby while they were gone. I would not be able to go away and relax if I didnt know that my precious babies werebeing loved while I was missing!
ReplyDeleteYOu are the BEST kind of mother there is.

I just had to turn around and look on my shelf! Is that my little Autumn peg doll...that you made! I think it is! I love her and she sends you lots of warm HUGS from Florida! ♥
ReplyDeleteAhh puppies...mischievous little things. Kittens are so much more easily looked after....I think your son and his wife need to get a kitten, so you can baby sit one!
ReplyDeleteTwo couches, three remotes, a door handle, four lamps, a library of books, family of picture frames, four dinning room chairs, an area rug, two dog beds and more. This is what my beautiful threesome have eaten in the last seven years. But I love them to bits...smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteOh my! You poor dears! I am reminded once again why I am a cat person! Ha!
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, all your fall time friends are soooo cutie pie! ♥
I saw your cute little bunnie and squirrel on Flickr. They are both so cute and I just love them. I cannot believe the dogs ate two trees...goodness. Waiting at curbside made me laugh. Pets are wonderful but the puppy stage can be costly. Hope you have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteNow I understand the saying "more trouble than a basket of puppies". I think you need a day at the spa after all that.
ReplyDeleteI just like the style you took with this topic. It’s not typical that you just discover a subject so concise and informative.
