The vestiges of summer days nearly gone, the excitement of Newlywed Love it's own climate here in the Heart of Ohio. Puppy Babysitting begins tomorrow leaving a final day for the bride and groom to pack for their excursion to Hawaii where they will be married.
My husband and I dropped off TSG's very twirly wedding dress and shoes at Joe's house warning him not to peek while Kellye is at work. Grinning from ear to ear, we could tell Joe was eager to share the itinerary of the Wedding Party. Joe's oldest sister and youngest sister will be accompanying them to Hawaii.
Joe gleefully produced for us a map of Maui to peruse as he said these words to the Mother-of-the-Bride, "I'm a little worried about Kellye handling the 3,000 ft descent into the volcano."
Suddenly the list of pre-wedding shopping items my daughter ticked off to me begins to make sense. Cargo pants that unzip, Indiana Joes fedora, heavy duty sunscreen ...... "VOLCANO!!!!!" I exclaimed. "You are hiking into a volcano the day BEFORE you get married????"
I swear to you Joe's grin became wider. "It says in the guide book the temperatures can be extreme. From sudden heat bursts over 100* to torrential downpours. I'm trying to decide if we should choose the SEVEN mile hike or the TEN mile hike." At this point visions of "Joe VS the Volcano" are flashing through my mind with my daughter as the virginal sacrifice to the volcano gods.
"We're going to be camping out overnight!" continues Joe. "There's a hotel at the bottom of the volcano?" I hopefully ask as Joe unrolls before me a rubber mat. Apparently not hearing me he responds, "I've got one for each of us. They're nice and cushy!"
As my husband helped me get into our car to drive away, I was already mentally making a list of questions to ask my daughter about her upcoming nuptials, "Do you have hiking boots and band aids?"
"Aloha!" Joe and Kellye. We love you with all our hearts! Mom and Dad
Yes, well, I see even one of your elves passed out at that news, Elizabeth! :) I hate heights to begin with and I can't even imagine going into a volcano hiking. I'm sure it will be very exciting, though, and hopefully they will just lay around on those beautiful beaches for the rest of their time there!
ReplyDeleteSounds very exciting and I'm sure they will have a trip to remember!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Kathy, I can relate to the elf that has passed out. Holy moley, not much to worry about now when you try to sleep, right? They will have a wonderful adventure and a great time and come back with pictures and stories and you all will be able to tell grandchildren about the time when mom and dad slept on a volcano . . . .
ReplyDeleteWow she is brave! I have never heard of a hotel at the bottom of a vocano! That does sound like a once in a life time trip!
ReplyDeleteBlessings, Joanne
Oh how cool, or hot I guess, what a fun thing to do. I wish I was able to do that kind of stuff. Do it while you're young and able! I so wish you were going with them dearest, and then you could keep her from jumping into the volcano....LOL
ReplyDeletePlease pass on to them that I wish them all the best and may their life be as blessed and fruitful...in so many ways.
Hugs, and Love,
Meri
He was kidding, right? I wish you were going....not to the volcano but for the vows.
ReplyDeleteI saw your sweet elves were featured on Craft Gossip. Love that source. Such cute things.
Congratulations Twirly Girl.
Now I'm sure it must be a 'safe' volcano to hike into and camp otherwise they would not let the tourist do this. Read up on this in the tour book E and rest your mind. Now if it's not dormant then we have a problem here and I'm back with you to the virginal sacrifice! Love the way you did candy stripe legs on the elves I must remember this when doing Christmas things. Big hugs and love Nan
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I love your scene by scene reinactment with the little elves! ;0 That's a classic.
ReplyDeleteSecondly, can't they do this hiking AFTER they are married?? Seriously, can't father of the bride have a talk with the groom to be??
I'm sure all will go well and TSG will have great stories to tell for years to come. ;0
Young people are so much more adventurous than the rest of us old folks. I'm sure it will all be perfectly safe and they will have a marvelous time. Of course this is being said by a woman who won't even go on a baby roller coaster. I loved the way the elves reacted to the news...I really did laugh out loud!
ReplyDeletexoxo
Have fun with the "puppy". That might end up being more adventurous!

It sounds like they are going to have an amazing adventure they will always remember which is what a wedding/honeymoon should be. I love the elf reenactment though. Maybe he should have waited until they came home to tell you that part of the trip! I hope they have a safe and exciting trip.

The elf is just taking a wee rest after that volcano hike. I bet they will have a blast!
ReplyDeleteAloha and Best Wishes to Joe and Kellye.

Best wishes to Joe and Kellye - such a cute couple - almost as cute as your elves!!
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud! Elves from the frigid tundra passing out at the thought of the heat!
ReplyDeleteWell Miss TSG is sure to never be bored with her amazing husband. A wedding adventure she is sure to remember. So glad we get to come along for the ride...smiles...Renee
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful adventure they are about to embark one. I love the Joe vs. the volcano reference I thought the same thing. Congrats to you all.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! I give you a lot of credit! I would have gone into full blown panic mode and tried to talk him into something else.. like learning to hula! Your daughter must have an adventurous spirit.. this is something that I totally lack! so hard for me to get it in other people... sort of like its hard for some to get our crafty spirits! lol!
ReplyDeleteYoure daughter and her husband are going to have the time of their lives! (but... I will say a little prayer for their safety and safe return!!)
big hugs to you Elizabeth!!!!!! and congratulations...
and yes, be sure to pack some bandaids for your daughter!
xoxo
