"Waterfall" did you say?

Do you like to try your hand at tutorials? I do, especially if they are about paper crafting; but be forewarned, I may not quite understand the directions until well after my project is completed. Case in point; Paula Clare's Halloween Waterfall Paper Bag Album.

Oh My Gosh! I adore Paula's work. She is able to take all sorts of ephemera and mix match them in such a way that they go together more perfectly than if they had been planned. I knew I just had to make one of these; but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what she meant about a "waterfall". It wasn't until I figured out that the letters spell out B O O that I became "clued" in!  Jeezers!

Waterfall knowledgeable, ready to go, I realized I hadn't any paper bags or ephemera. What's a scrapper to do? My album is made from card stock, miscellaneous scraps of paper, and images I have downloaded from the Internet.

My inspiration was this wonderful magazine cover I found by searching for "vintage Halloween magazine covers". The color is so wonderful behind the silhouettes.

Another cover featured from Collier's sealed the deal. My album would be a "Look Book" of sorts for Halloween. Please treat yourself to an evening of gazing at Collier's cover art. I promise you will not be disappointed!

There are all sorts of artistic styles to the covers. I chose the cartoonish style to mimic the brighter shades of Halloween I love so much.

I have made my album with the idea of  adding paper bag pages to be able to store tags or Halloween images that I wish to keep.

I believe my husband called up to me at 4:00pm to ask if I was going to begin making dinner. I believe I finally pulled myself away from the wonderful cover art at 5:30pm!

Other favorite covers to find vintage images to use for your paper art are Good Housekeeping, Woman's Day,  and American Girl. It's fun to watch the progression of womanhood through the years unfold right before your eyes.

A back cover, all for now. A very simple project using just what I had on hand.

Have a look Paula Clare, my ghosts are waterfalling! I can't wait to add more pages; so I thank you so much for your wonderful tutuorial and look forward to the next! I have added a link on my sidebar to Paula Clare's Palace of Altered Art so that you might enjoy her wonderful paper art for yourself!

I saw Paula Clare's album earlier today and thought it was magnificent. Yours is a fine example of working with what's at hand. The Colliers covers are amazing and I love the way you've worked them in to your book. I will have to go and have a look at them myself. I did write about our current swap yesterday and I borrowed your picture of the finsihed banner...I hope you don't mind. It was such a good photo. I am soooo excited...I will be watching the mail all week.

Oh, my gosh, Elizabeth. That was just a little treat! I love those covers....thank you so much. I, of course, had to copy them (I hope that was OK) though I just keep copying graphics and much go something about them. I thought that was Paula Claire's book and you did a wonderful job of making it yours.
Big hugs, you clever woman!
