February Tag Along

My color theme for this month is Robin's Egg Blue, Red and Pink. This tag has many steps; so I am using Lindsey of Two Crazy Crafter's technique of more photos, less words!

Copy image once 4x6".

Trim dress as shown due to edges of dress missing in image. Cut away ruffles and underskirt, crown and scepter.

Trace reverse side of skirt bottom on white card stock. Scallop around drawn line.

Use tip of sharp scissors to mark center of each scallop,(don't skip this step!)punch holes in each scallop. Turn white card stock over, glue dress in place.

Two mini cupcake liners found in baking aisle at grocery store. Cut away center. Cut pleats in half. Two halves leave as is and glitter bottom edge. One half, draw pleats together to fit as a collar behind neck. Glitter top edge.

When dry, glue in place behind dress with hot glue gun. Set image to side.

TAG:

Cut three 6"x3" tags rounding the tops of each. The center tag is card stock used only for sturdiness. Punch hole in first tag, glue to card stock, punch hole again, repeat with back sheet.

Trace top 1/3 of tag onto a patterned paper that pleases, cut piece into a curtain swag shape. Place on black card stock and scallop edge. Ruffles left behind, cut in shape of curve. Glue pieces in place. Punch hole.

ASSEMBLY:

Use foam dots or squares on back of image. Position image on tag.

Cut 12" length of black crepe paper and acordian fold to fit tag width. Hot glue in place. Finish back of tag if desired. Hot glue flower in place, glitter and embellish as you would like.

I plan to make lots of creations with Valentine's Day images. I hope you will share your creations with me. Please let me know if you Tag Along!

Thank you for the tutorial. I have always wondered how you made such beautiful tags. Please do more tutorials in the future if time permits :)

I echo T's comment...how could I get so far behind so quickly with your posts? Your organizational hints are so helpful, your recalling of old and new memories are always fun to read and of course your art is heart-stopping! These tags today are both so beautiful! I love what you did with Twyla & Lindsay's image (the petticoat alone made me swoon!) and the box of flowers is magnificent! Maybe a quiet week will give you a chance to think about your next projects and it will give me a chance to catch my breath! I'll be drawing a winner later this evening! Stay tuned!

Amazed that I can see through the sugary, lacy sweetness of this post. I LOVE it all! My paperdoll youth was in the 50's, and the best ones, like Cinderella types, all had the big scalloped skirts--the gathers, perhaps held in place by tiny blue birds or white doves.
Delightful.

Heh Elizabeth! Thank you for visiting my blog. You do not realise that it was YOUR red, white and aqua dollhouse which started me off thinking. Then I saw Jenny B. Allsort's one and I knew I would not be happy until my little dolls have somewhere to live.

If you want to see how the professionals decorate their dollhouses please visit Une Petite Folie (you may have to google her).

Love all your work, and am really excited we will be playing dollshouse together - even if the Atlantic Ocean is somewhat in the way!!! Carol x

She's a beauty, and your tutorial was perfect! She looks relatively doable to me, but how do you do that scalloping? Is that by hand?! I might need to use an alternative!

What an eye opener seeing your creation step by step! Unbelievable and so pretty...I have saved greeting cards received over the years and hubby wants me to reduce them down and this might be one way for me to reuse them.

I wish Australia had such fantastic Valentines day cards about. Imust keep my eyes open at the "poor baby stores" and see if I can't find some vintage images. Yes, that's still one of my favourite stories!! Along with the one where you and your friend got Fred Astaires autograph! Do you still have it, and if so, could you scan it and post about it?
Much love! Manda. xox
