Cy and Jimmy both enlisted to fight in WWII. Cy with arms like tree trunks joined the SeaBees, Jimmy who was lucky to pass the physical joined the Army. At times their paths crossed during the war. We loved when these two men got together, their stories settling over us like a favorite blanket. On one such occassion as the men shared an under the breath joke, Mrs. Jimmy quietly leaned in to me, "You know how we met... I was riding on the train, and it was filled with service men. It was the hottest summer day on record, and it was raining. I had on a brand new rayon shift, yellow with red polka dots and piping. In that hot, hot car my dress began shrinking right before my eyes! My knees were beginning to show! This tall, thin man wearing glasses offered me his service jacket to cover up. He kept me laughing the rest of the train ride to cover my embarrassment and finally got my name and address. You know I have laughed everday of our marriage." Jimmy and Ornella had nine children together. Laughter is the sweetest sound.

Hi Elizabeth. Thanx for stopping by and saying hi! Yes, I am a pink girl! Since having both my girls, I have become more prone to pink, but I do love other colors! Really I do. I actually really like the vintage/primitive country look. I love antiques! Have two girls who like pink and purple....I just can't help it! I actuallly never really was that into pink until them! My favorite color was yellow! hugs, Ellen p.s. You hearts are sweet! I would never turn one down. Maybe we could do an exchange! WINK! WINK!
I totally forgot to leave my comment on the post. I love the story about Mrs. Jimmy! I could just visualize her on the train and her dress shrinking! I would have loved to listen to stories like those! Not much storytelling these days! hugs, Ellen

Yellow with red polka dots and piping? That would be a most beautiful dress, even if it did shrink in the heat. Mimi

this should be in a movie... I wish there was more story telling these days... It would be so fun to hear my parents or grandparent talk about their youth.
I am wishing you and your husband well... Think PINK! hehe that even makes sense with your husband! But keep your chins up and your hope higher! Will you e-mail me your mailing address?
